Voltmeter Help

Hey Guys, i put a new battery in yesterday and the volt meter only read just above half voltage..

i was expecting it to read the full amount on the meter, am i missing something, or should i be looking for a new volt meter?

The new battery may not have a full charge in it as it may have been sitting around for some time befor you got it. Go for a run in the car to give it a charge and then check it, it should be right after that.

It should still read just over 12V even with out the motor running if raidio, lights and so on is off.
But as Ben said turne it on and see what it reads. Should be about 14V

Nah, i checked it with my voltage tester when i installed it to see that it wasn't my alternator(thankfully it wasn't)

When i get home from work ill check what it's reading and get back to you guys.

So you tested the voltage and it read normal but your volt meter does not match up correct?? What does that tell you???
