Freakish grinding sound

Post by FTOGOGO »

OK! so i just bought a manual FTO a couple of weeks back...this is my first post, so please do excuse if i sound like a complete idiot :)

I have this problem where i get a griding sound coming from the front left wheel when driving between 500 - 1500rpm and dissapears after. its not limited to the lower gears either. its there even in 4th. im quite sure its not the gear box or air box and suspect it could be some messed up bearing, but seeing as i dont know much at all im seeking help! :P

please advise :(

Maybe one of the universal joints on the driveshaft or possibly the wheen bearing or finally, maybe a warped caliper

sounds like it could be one of your journal bearings, these dont work well at low rpm cause they spin on the oil. im not sure but theres probably a couple of these in your gear box not 100%

Yeah dude mine does that too. Simple fix: never, ever, ever, ever, drive your car around at < 3,000 rpm :P

Seriously though, I CBF to fix it so waiting until it breaks, then at least I'll know where the problem was lol
