I have been thinking

Post by aza013 »

 yes I know its not good for me to think

I have been looking around at what may fit in an FTO bay and was thinking about the 3.8 L 263 hp (196 kW) V6 Eclipse motor with 262lb-ft torque
oh and a 6-speed manual box to go with it.

it would have to be worked and moded for more power

So the Q. for all you tech heads out there, would it fit in?

the block does look quite similar indeed and im not sure but it looks like the left engine mount is in the same position as ours, i'd be keen to find out if its possible ... i think you could do it but its a gamble :?

but how much would it be to grab one or a half cut? im guessing that engine is only in the newer models and would be hard to find. Maybe an import from america

Hmmm interesting ...

I would be interested in knowing the cost to get a halfcut though ...
I just had to add it ......

hmmm, nice engine but not really efficient for a 3.8. F.y.i. the motor this car uses is a slight variation on the mitsushiti 380. Both motor's are a 6g75 so aza if you wanna give it a go by sourcing a 380 motor and making it breathe better then do it. Should get the 20 or so kws that the aussie motor's missing. I reckon though, go a 4g63t and mate it to the 6speed gearbox that newer versions came out with. Better bang for your bucks and a 6 speed ;)

btw....mistushiti made a 3L 201kw mivec v6 in the diamante's. Came out in japan or usa, can't remember. That would hammer in an fto!
