One would imagine so that he can carve away at it to a shape he's wanting to go for, then overlay with fibreglass when he's ready.. I've never thought about doing it that way with spray foam .. much better idea than using block of modelling styrofoam ..

Thanks for the idea Simon :)

Nice project, would like to see how it turns out as ive always wondered how hard/easy a 4G63T conversion is. Had a look around and havent seen much detailed info.

Mr C is spot on.

The foam is so i can fibreglass over top of the foam, then i will pull the foam out from the back. I will be doing the same trick for all holes on the bar which then effectively give me a clean canvass to work from. I will then style the front bar from that.

May even make a mould ;)

As for the foam versus modelling styrofoam. They both have their advantages and dissadvavantages. I will use modelling styrofoam later in the project to do the more detailed work.

Damn, and here I was thinking for a bit that you might be making it mid engined. No need for the air intake then.

Nice idea with the foam, I'll remember that one.

use clay ;) just put a layer of contact vinyl (the kind ya mum used to cover books with in primary school) or, plaster of paris works well too & easier to break out than filler putty / clay

definately make a mould of the blank front bar, we can then buy them from you and carve our own custom bars.

Sounds good, makes sense as to why you are filling it with foam. I've actually got my hands on a spare panel from an old car and wanna have a play around with various fainting techniques, coats, etc with the air compressor w/ painting attachment. Got to bog and sand it though.

OK GUYS

ITS DECISSION TIME

I am undecided on what colour to paint it.

Now this probably wont be its final colour, I may paint it a different colour when I begin the strip down for the conversion but i need to get it all uniform for the meantime

Let Me know what you think

1) Satin Black (well you know what that will look like)
2) Electric Blue http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/images/zp-4008.jpg

I say go satin black cos the particular colour hasn't been done before. The blue you've got there is similar to the bayside blue from an r34 gtr. Both are hot as but I still say go the black

Black will probably not show up mistakes in the paint job as much whilst you get more practiced.

Or everyone's favourite chalk board paint! Change designs everytime you wash the car, and play noughts and crosses when you break down on the side of the road to pass the time.

Are you kidding? Black shows up imperfections so much.

But it would still be sexy obviously.

I like the Queen Street Racing Blue. I'm not sure what colour they call it.

Here's a crap picture of it.

http://queenstsmash.com.au/qs-custom/in ... 4&Itemid=5

It's black underneath with blue on top. They do it in red too.

It looks so nice. Go with either one.
