Are you sure those guys won't give you are quote?
Isn't it because maybe you're not a perminant resident? or a citizen?
Cause virtually most of the FTO owners here in this forum would be part of at least one of the companies you have mentioned above.
For example, I was with Dawes and now with Torque..etc...

And I think most people are on Dawes cause it's the cheapest you can get.

Try again...

I am with Torque and pay about a third of what you have been quoted (95 GPX with mods, car parked in Sydney in security garage). What is your driving record like?

That does seem rather high. Have you tried Famous? They were willing to "negociate", but were nowhere near as cheap as Young and Cool for me - $1200 fully comp.

Have you tried Unique? I pay $1200 for a 96 tip GPX with custom kit, paint, trim, exhaust, filter mods, lowered on 18s and an AV stereo with the usual 3pt alarm. I have one speeding fine and I'm on rating 1 with no money owing on the car. Even with Just Car I paid $1500 odd when I was on rating 3. However I am in Brisbane and I think your postcode would raise the price a bit.

Points to note are that due to the high value of my stereo it is excl from cover, you can pay quarterly for a little extra and the excess is around $1000 depending on the exact reason for claiming.

Their no is: (03) 9898 9400

Lol... don't feel so bad... I just got a quote from JustCars...

wait for it..

...

$5,500!!!

Lol... apparently, i'm almost certain to write off my car! And to show you how stupid it is, I got a another quote from Just Cars on a WRX and they quopted me $4.5!!

Now 4,5 is lots, but how can an FTO be $1000! MORE!@?#!?

I havn't even bought a car yet.. just checking, but the one fto i'm looking at has a few mods, like kings springs, exhaust, air filter, gear knob, metal pedals.. and so, sure they bring up the preimum a bit.. but god damn!!

I'm 20, on NCB6, so I guess nothing really helps my cause... but at that preimum, I could buy another gpx in 3 years!

WRX is less cos of more availability of parts etc.

When do you turn 21? I'm similar to you, I can get $2.5g after 21 with Young & Cool, or Import Finance & Insurance.

Yeah, I tried getting a quote for my cousin on a TT Soarer and they told me they wouldn't insure anyone under 21 any more. Looks like I got my insurance just in time. Be interesting to see how much the renewal will be this year though.

Insurance premiums depend on lots of things so it's difficult to compare. But some othing things that might be causing your premium to be high are where the car will be parked (on the street v's in a secure garage) and how often you drive it (every day to work or just on weekends).
