Headlight/Tip problems

Post by maxleng »

new thread again :) Ive noticed that there is quite abit of condensation in mostly all my lights. quite a lot in both foglights, not as much in the main lights, but still there, and quite abit in the tail lights.

the weather has been pretty cold here (melb) 14-17 but not really raining, well my car has been out of the rain when it has. Is this normal on fto's? It has just got a RWC before i got it (few days ago) but i know the guy knew the mechanic, so could have overlooked this. anyway, should it have been allowed to pass RW with condensation? should i take it back? or just not bother. and does the condensation effect the brightness of the light drastically?

Secondly, when im in tip mode and completly stopped (ie at the lights) and i flat it in first and then change say around 7k into second, it changes okay into second no real delay but if i let go of the throttle a little bit it IMMEDIATLY drops into back down to 1st and wont shift into second. Has happend a few times now.

if im just driving normally say in 3rd or 4th, chuck it in tip and down gear to 2nd or 3rd and floor it, it works alright and shifts up well into the next gear. but sometimes it will delay abit etc.

So its mainly when im in 1st and changing into 2nd that it screws up and drops back into 1st and revs like crazy, which is not good.

Im thinking it could be the tranny oil, but not really sure how to check what oil was used. thinking of calling up the place and finding out. is there anyway to tell by looking at the tranny oil? il take some pics if it helps and anyone can identify it by looking at pictures

Tranny oil looks fine, maybe a tad overfilled. You may have a TPS misadjustment so may be an idea to get that checked out.

Take it out and drain the water in it. Then check to see if the beather pipe is not blocked.

This may sound stupid but how would you go about draining it coz ive taken out my foglight before but i havent had a close look at the plugs/leads behind it. Where should i drain it from and which one is the breather?

Take the main H4 bulb out by removing the large plug behind the fogs. Drain water out then get the hair dryer out until dry.
