Yeah I know the road. If I remember right there is a bridge over a small creek near a tight sweeping corner. Is that where it was? My place is bad for floods too. During high tide and heavy rain, the creek at Anzac Av comes across the footy grounds and across the bottom of my street. Lucky for me though I have the Jeep.knowhopetattoo wrote:Tow trucks been and picked it up allready......went with the old honesty is the best policy system.......but we will see....should here from the insurance company tomorrow.Jamie wrote:Sorry to hear. I hope its not too bad. Saying that though water doesn't comprese too well so I would guess the conrod is bent aswell. As for the air filter, just ask around, somebody might have the stock one thats not being used.
Bent conrods for certain I reckon
Boundary road was the location of the offending puddle Jamie, dunno if you use it much but it's quite close to your house.

That's exactly where it was mate.
Insurance has made the car a total loss......so she's gone for good.

Sorry to hear man.

The story they gave me was that my insurers gaurantee there repairs for life.....any question of wet electrics and they write the car off as they don't want the customer complaining in 18 months or 2 years time that they have rusted electric bits ^^
Also they told me a while ago (when I questioned my policy price) that they only use new parts when repairing the vehicle.
I'm not to concerned by the result, I've been lucky and haven't lost any money, they valued it at 10 grand.....I lose 1650 for remaining policy and excess...leaves me with 8350.
I payed 6300 for it and spent 1900 total....thats everything....including rego so I really cannot complain....could have been much worse.
Now if I can get it back at auction for a reasonable price I'll be laughing.

I woud ask the insurance company about buying back the car. Even if you bought it back for $2000 that leaves you over $6000 to spend on it. That should be enough to get your box and engine reconditioned with enough left over for a few go fast bits

As a side note.......
I was insured with Suncorp and they were about $80 a year more than NRMA
There service was amazing......basically I called in the claim on Tuesday afternoon......3PM or so.
They collected the car from the house the same afternoon on a truck.
Inspected it and wrote it off the next morning.
Valuer called me the same day to discuss the market value, they were very fair about this.
Money was in the bank last night.
So roughly 80 hours from making the claim to receiving payment, sh*t hot service in my opinion.
I highly recommend them

This is $80 more than NRMA, and the last time I spoke to NRMA (3 years ago) about insurance for an FTO they said $8500 for me per year and if it was under my dad's name it would be $5k+ a year. Of course it would've gone down a bit now but they'd still charge at least 3.5k a year?

Well if we are going to talk about insurers, don't go near RACQ. They jfinally accepted my claim for the smash that occurred almost a month back, and they have booked it in for June 9 and reckon there is nothing earlier. Ridiculous. I guess that's what you get when you go through the at-fault party's insurer....
Sublime, my car is insured with NRMA (it is under my GF's dad's name) and it's only $1000. If it were in my name, as a P-plater, it would have been $5000.
