hi

what is a detonation sensor and where is it located in the engine bay?

thanks also crank angle sensor i know its located somewhere near the pulleys but could you please tell me exactly where it is??

Relevant because I disconnected the detonation sensor to see what would happen! :)

Detonation sensor (knock sensor) is located on top of the block between the two cylinder banks under the inlet manifold. The crank angle sensor is located behind the plastic timing belt cover near the crank,hence the name. The knock sensor works in conjunction with the engine management system and basically retards the ignition timing if it senses any pinging (caused mostly by low octane fuel,on na cars anyway) hope this helps :lol:
