6A12 engines and transmission sides

Finally my work place has paid off. I found a contact at Mitsubishi Head office in Japan in the Engine component department.

So I sent them an email asking what vehicles had the 6A12 engine and what side the transmission was mounted to.

Also if the engines are still being produced.

Here is the reply.

I'm very surprised there is "FTO car enthusiast club" in Australia.

Regarding the 6A1 engine, the vehicles and engine lineup are as follows.
The location of transmission is indicated in parenthesis.

FTO 6A12 DOHC (left)
FTO 6A12 DOHC MIVEC (left)
GALANT 6A12 SOHC (left)
GALANT 6A13 SOHC (left)
GALANT 6A13 DOHC T/C (left)
GALANT-before 96MY 6A12 DOHC (right)
GALANT-before 96MY 6A12 DOHC MIVEC (right)
GALANT-before 96MY 6A12 DOHC T/C (right)
DIAMANTE 6A13 SOHC (left)
LANCER 6A11 SOHC (left)

note;6A13 is 2.5 litter and 6A11 is 1.8 litter engine.

Only the GALANT 6A13 SOHC engine is carrying out the present mass
production.

that is very interesting, considering they have the gearbox mounted on the passenger side of the 6A12 Galant SOHC, and driver's side on the DOHC T/C variant...

which begs the question - is the 6A12 turbo kit (from US) designed for the SOHC or DOHC model?? will the exhaust ports be any different between the two??
