hmm, i was told by my mechanic (he doesn't know too much about fto's) but he reckons to replace the timing belt he has to take the tensioner off and after that you cant push it back in? im assuming he's wrong?
Yeah, tensioner has to come off when doing it in car. You'd only need to replace it if its shot.
You can push it back in, then you lock it down with a small pin, then you put it back in, put the belt on, then once the belt is in place, you adjust the tensioner pulley so its tight against the belt, then you pull the pin out from it.
another quick question, i can here the tensioner clicking when i first turn the car on and then it goes away after about a minute. Im pretty sure its nothing inside the block, but is it a problem?
hmm, ok well ive just ordered the whole kit including timing belt, tensioner, idler and seal for $242 from dayco so il see how it goes after that and then il find out for sure if its the tappets
