Fkn Hit & Run

Post by koolio1234 »

Sunday Arvo I was parked out at Mt Druitt Westfield for an hour and came back to find my fto had taken a hit from behind (ha-ha). Looks like some ute/truck/4wd (the vehicle that hit it must of been high off the ground) gave it a strong nudge from behind and dented the shitt out of the boot mainly the section directly below the boot lock. It misaligned the boot and also cracked my driver side tail light. The fk didn't leave a note or anything so hit and run claim here i come.

My excess is $800 with Just Car and I got the whole job quoted at $1500. Is this too much? I'm not too sure. That includes matching the paint, replacing headlight, realigning everything as well. Pics:

The boot can be beaten out and they would only have to repaint the back part and not the top.. They can replace the bent plastic on the rear bar fairly well and realign it, a tail light only costs about 150 second hand.. In my opinion you should be able to get it repaired for between 600 and 800

f**k! Bastards!

Bad luck mate, that's a good excess and price for what they'll have to do though, specially with the custom paint.

Ahh man that hurts khalil ...
1500 is too much i believe, the tailights dont need replacing. 1000$ tops to get it fixed

but still 1000$ takes me 5weeks to make

Thats reassuring, Im gonna get a family friend to quote it maybe he'll do it for a few hundred and dstocks already quoted me 90bux for tail light shipped (he's my hero) as 1500 is just too much and will raise my premiums (i prepaid 1400 for full comp insurance this year).

The reason that it could cost $1500 is that the beaver panel may be dented .. No big deal, but it is a little bit of a pain to fix, and takes time...

Time=Money

It is not essential that the beaver panel is fixed, as you will not see it when the bar is on, and the carpet and everything is in the car ... But just something to keep in mind ...

thats an interesting point you make about the beaver panel, he quoted me 1500 before even looking in the boot but i guess he must have known.

hey buddy,

couldn't be assed reading through all that so forgive me if anyone has already mentioned it, but -

if you were parked in westfields, I'll bet they've got video footage of your car being hit. if you give them the exact date, time and location that your car was parked, they might help you (but go about it nicely cos they're not obligated to help).

Then once (if) you can get the details of the other car, go to the police / let your insurance company know. long shot, but it might avoid having to pay your excess, and hopefully the m*therf*cker will have to pay for it themselves.

So no one else thinks it might have just been some douchy kid running and jumping on a trolley or something?

yeah...I was actually planning to go to them for the tapes but then i realized they probably wouldn't offer up the tapes as it would breach confidentiality/privacy laws. Too late now anyway, I've got all the work done and got the car back. Only ended up paying $400 for the excess anyway.

sh*t man, hate dickheads that do that kind of sh*t.

Anyway, 1500 sounds reasonable. You want it done right, especially if they're gonna respray the back, you don't want them using sh*tty paint which goes dull and never shines no matter how much you polish it.

And your excess is only $800? You're under 25 right? Damn.. I got quote $2600 a year for my car with a $1900 excess fee from Just Cars, even though I live in a good neighbourhood and car is always garaged while I'm at work / home :? That's why I've been on third party for the past 3 years.

Anyway, don't go for a cheap fix.. get it done right I say. You can pay the excess if it's only 800, that way they'll use genuine parts and most importantly you want your paintjob done properly, not some cheap sh*t.

Btw, if you do decide to get it repaired through your insurance and need a recommendation on a good smash repairer, let me know. My car got rear ended, $8000 worth of damages and these guys did a top of job of fixing it, it's a reputable and quite a big workshop too.

Thanks for the offer sublime, I actually got it back a few weeks back and got a body shop on oakes rd, winston hills to do the work. My dads friends with the owner and he did an amazing job, the guy somehow did the impossible and matched that bronzy metallic orange of my fto PERFECTLY. :D Really happy with the work and he even realigned my bumpers at not extra cost. a really honest guy. Thanks to dstocks, I was able to get a rear tail light as well.
