Bought meself a FTO about two months ago and thought Id share my experence with you guys. Checked around a bit, enquired about importing one myself and was told that Id be looking at around 18 for a decent one. Thought stuff that I can buy one here for that price checked car sales were I found a few to test drive but there was nothing spectacular about them.
Then found a fast and the furiose orange 1994 FTO 80 000 klm with mivec controller, mags, Jasma exaust and kick plates for $19990. Managed to get the guy to $18000 plus on roads.
Also if theres any FTO drives in Brisbane my flatemate and I would be keen

really, you can't expect a car to be in a 'mint' condition having paid such a cheap price for it... as with any 2nd hand cars, you take chances because you don't really know for certain how much care has gone into the car by the pevious owner...
as mentioned in other topics, those problems are very common in the FTO and it will happen sooner or later - how bad was the leak? if it wasn't too bad you could have waited til your major service.
I just had my front swaybar bushes replaced. parts will be about $7 each but most mechanics will probably charge you a good 2 hours worth of labour for the job
nice car anyway, your mate got a super cheap deal - yours is just about average, it must have been the unique paint that attracted the extra $$$ , obviously it attracted you

Yeah I got hypnotised by the colour Ill admit it. Thanks for the positive feedback guys, makes me feel better . Threres a few issues though, I get the flashing neutral light randomly. Im doing the diag light thing (off the wa page) to see if that will tell me whats up. Ive seen some others with the same problem on these forums, so Ill post the results.
