ok ive just taken out the batery and given the stepper motor a bit of a clean...yea theres a lot of carbon build up in there...after reassembling everything...it still didnt fix the problem....
my dad (hes chinese and doesnt know much english) believe theres a problem with the device that 'ups the rev at low temeratures and lowers the rev at hight tmeratues'....would this be the stepper motor?
well what we are gonan do now is undo the bolts on the stepper itself and have a clean inside there...anymore suggestions on how i can get my car to start up without having the engine die on me?

Damn bummer! That sucks dude.
Well the ecu controls the idling speeds at varying temps... No ones really changed theirs on an fto...not that i've come across anyways. But the ecu temp sensor could be the coolant temp sensor or a seperate inside the engine somewhere. I'm not sure which one the FTO utitlises.
Is yours a mivec or non mivec ? If it's a non mivec (i.e. GR), try cleaning the air flow meter as well with some electrical contact cleaner or something similar.
Might be worth looking into a 2nd stepper motor. Maybe a friend with an fto will allow you to try theirs and see if your car starts ok.
If a working stepper motor and cleaning the air flow meter (and ultimately replacing it) still doesn't work... it will most likely be a crapfight locating the problem after that. You can do all the maintenance things like change the fuel filter, service engine, replace oil filter, replace the o2 sensors on your exhaust but the chances of that fixing anything..well i can't say.
Upon startup, does your exhaust emit any smoke ?
Also after driving the car, and then parking it for a little while...if you start it again does it keep on or does it stall ?
Does the same thing happen when you drive it in the morning then don't drive it again till night ?

lol yea sucks i know...i after cleaning out the gunk in the stepper and reassmebing i sat in my car and i was like o gawwwd please work...but it didnt...
my fto is a mivec engine....and it took me a good 30 min for the cleaning process which involved removign the battery...so i think during that time the ecu mustev been rebooted....
are u sure its the stepper motor thats at fault? i dotn have a mate's fto to try out their stepper....darn...i wouldnt mind gettin a new stepper if im sure that its the theing thats giving me problems
um i havnt really i dont really look behind but i think it does emit smoke...
i dont remember ever having stalling probmem...however there was a couple of times when im driving and it stalls and the green N flashes and im stuck on third gear...however htats onli happend twice....
all i know is if i leave the car overnight...it wont be able to start again...

CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

i jus rang road side assist....even though im in my own home...and they had a guy come and he said that somehting was wrong with the idle sensor (he pointed to the black thign with the electrical wires comin out of it which was on the right of the stepper motor)...could this be the thign thats at fault? cause dad says theres nothing wrong with the stepper motor itself, only thign theing that controls it...im guessing thats the black thing nxt to the stepper?
if so how much would it be to replace that?

This is the stepper - this is also how to check with absolute certainty, if its fucked or not:

lol nar i didnt remove the electical bit when i cleaned it...but yea i got it off...and we measured it...are u suppose to keep the stepper inside the engine when u measure it or can u take it out and measure it in by its on on a talbe (disconenct form any power source) cause we measured it in teh car and it was a bloody hard job....
wattaya know...all the readings are fine EXCEPT when measuring from 4-6 it was reading in the Mohm range...so yea...thanks bennoz i think i do have a faulty stepper...
but we did it in a bit of a rush and not sure if we connected all the things correct cause my dads gotta go to work...so tmoororw we are gonan dismantle the whole stepper and try again....
o yea...i asked this in the frst paragraph but are we allowed to measure it when its been deisconnected? or does it have to be connected to the engine?
