Problem when starting car

Post by joshfto »

First thing when i start my car in the morning it makes a fluttering sound as the engine revs. It sounds like something grinding. it only does it when i first start up, unless i turn it of and dont go driving. And also is it supposed to rev up around 2000 without putting your foot on accelerator when starting car?

well mine idels at about 1500 when i first turn on my car and about 1 / 2 mins later it drop too about 800 revs because the engines warm.

Also having the air-con on makes the car rev / idel a bit higher.
So your revs seem to be fine but im not sure about the fluttering sound?

1/2 mins to warm up or 1-2mins to warm up??? my said 1200 at start and after 5-10mins it goes down to 780-740, & its was measure with the Apexi RSM, so its a digital read out, no guessing heehehehehehe

But one thing i do notice is that the analoge reading seem to be a little bit higher then the digital one. So your 1500 would be same as mine 1200 at start up.

check your belts! That fluttering noise is a sign of one of the belts not tensioned properly. Adjust the screws on the tensioner, should remove the noise.
