Im Wanting info on Veilside Bodykit

Post by joshfto »

Ive put some 17inch tyres on my FTO, it originally had 16's. But now the car is a bit higher of the ground, and i wasnt really wanting to lower the car cause of my area i dont want to start scraping the ground. But i was just wondering if the bodykit for it goes a bit lower at all? And also is it hard to get hold of the veilside body kit?

That's a bit of a worry, the only way your car can be sitting higher after putting on the new wheels is if the overall wheel + tyre diameter is greater. If this is the case, then the rolling circumference will be more, which means your speedo will be out. 8O

Watch out for speed cameras, as you'll be going faster than what your speedo says!

I understand the rims are 17", but what size are the tyres? i.e. the standard setup is 205/50 on 16" rims.

The Veilside kit does sit lower. The genuine Veilside kit is harder to get hold of, due to its cost, but most people go for Veilside copies which are cheaper and easier to find.

Hmmmm i've changed my rims from standard 16" to 17" but the car still remind the same height. I've done this type of upgrade to all my current/previous cars & none of them sit higher either.

So like ruchi said, i would wonder what size of tyres you are using at the moment, & i guess you must of brought the wheels+tyres second hand, as wheel/tyres shop will try to match the overall diameter so u won't have a speedo problem.

And if your rims are second hand, did you check the offset of the rims? Cause that will affect the handling of your car, & also may damage your inner guard of your wheel arch.

check out www.carmate.com.au

it has the veilside kit there to look at, also they quoted me 1400 for it if i remember right.

i also just put 17s on over my 16s and i have been told that the veilside lowers the car quite abit, so i wouldnt worry about lowering it.
Whats an FTO?

for the best quality, yes you can't get any better than genuine Veilside job, but are you really willing to pay $5K+ for it (exl freight/fit/paint)???
