Place in W or SW Sydney to adjust suspension

Hello all,

I just got my car back (re-spray n all), and I'm looking to raise the car by about 1" so it doesn't scrub at half lock. It's on coilovers.

I rang one place up and they quoted "around $400" with alignment

. At this point I threw the phone on the floor but then I had to pick it up coz it's cordless and forgot to press the end key.

Do any of you guys know of a place that will do a decent job for cheaper? I've got to do it on Wednesday since it's my only day off.

i've got the same problem with the front tyres scrubbing. it only does that when i turn 0.5 to 1.5 turns. Its sitting on R17/215/45 but i think its lowered. i parked along side a stock grey fto in broadway one day and notice that i'm at least an inch lower than him.

does your coilovers have 4 different settings? I'm not sure if mine are aftermarket or stock. because i have 4 different settings for both front and back.

which brand of springs would you recommend? something softer and with a height close to stock. or should i use the equations and calculate an equivalent spring rate and then get something more suited to cruising. what value of spring rate should i be looking at? i have to travel 80km a day to and from work and my backside does get sore...

Well, before I had Teins, I had Apex springs. They were a little lower than stock, but not too harsh. Mind you I had to get them in from the UK. Locally you can get a range of springs, King, Eibach, Tien etc.

Try & pick a spring rate thats somewhere in between a track spec coilover & standard. From memory the stock springs are 2.6kg/mm on the front & 1.6kg/mm on the back. An off the shelf set of coilovers is about 9kg/mm front & 7kg/mm rear. With my Teins, I had those hard settings, but got them revalved & resprung for daily use. I went with a 4.5kgmm front & 3.6 rear from memory.

Yeah they're actually the 1st place I called (Wholesale Suspension), since they replaced my drop links. Quote was a bit high for my liking ($400). Will keep looking until next week for somewhere cheaper.

If you're not going to the track often (like it happens to be the case with me), then you should go for something softer with spring rates. I had Teins with apparently Japanese spec and it was a bit too bumpy for my liking. From what I'm told the Australian version gets re-done for our conditions.

At the moment I have K-Sport coilovers and asked for 7kg/mm front and 5.5 rear. Now I have no idea if that's what I got, but I know that the car was not drivable on anything but the M7. Had to get them redone. I guess you can use that as a general guide. The K-Sport was $200 more than the Tein SS but Tein seem to have a better reputation.

If price is an issue there's a set of K-Sports at around $150 less (last time I called), than the Teins at www.rpw.com.au. For something mega cheap check out http://www.justjap.com/store/product.ph ... 289&page=1. I'm not sure how good these would be though.
