Parts needed

Post by MR2YEN »

Just got the car serviced yesterday and the pinkslip done. All good, but they found a few major things with needed to be fixed. I had a clicking noise whenever i accelerate and brake. They found that the front engine mounts have gone soft and the rear are broken. They are also a few leaks here and there, with one being where the timing belt is.

I got quoted 1.5k to buy and fit all these parts, with them sourcing the parts from Mitsubishi of course. Just wondering if i could get these parts myself for cheaper? Or if anyone can source these parts for me?

I can get brand new mounts landed in Aus for about $55 and $70 and can get the rocker cover gasket for $27 + postage from Japan. I dare say I can beat all the other prices listed there as well.

Get yourself a gates timing belt. I think it was a T987 from memory, but search the forum to confirm that. Should be about $100. I can get a genuine Mitsu one, but the Gates one is probably going to be cheaper. Mind you, might flick that one through just to see what it comes back for.

Would the gates one be in anyway inferior to the genuine one from Mitsubishi? Also how many engines mounts would i need to get for the front and rears?

Dwayne could you also get the other parts required apart from the timing belt and engine mounts and i will pay for them asap.

NOTE: the passanger side TOP engine mount (on a tip) is the same for all FTO between 94-97 but changes from 8/97 onwards
