how is everyone manual FTO goin?
i just got an manual FTO on the 09/08/08.
i realised that my clutch and brake friction point are very bad.
CLUTCH:
i have to clutch in so far that it nearly touches the back.
but the clutch is meaty feels new though.
also when i step on the clutch its also very soft.
is this the same for u guys?
BRAKES:
same thing happens to the brakes.
gotta step on it so much that its nearly where the stage u can step on it no more.
would this be the Clutch master cylinder and brake's master cylinder?

Standard FTO clutches are very soft. Thats the soft diaphram springs on the pressure plate. Nothing you can do about that without changing to a heavier duty pressure plate.
As for the pedal travel, yep as mentioned check for fluid leaks on both the master & slave cylinders. It would also be wise to do a full bleed / flush & replace the fluid. I had to replace both master & slave cylinders on mine at about 110,000 kms. Works a treat now, although originally I put a reco kit thru both items (new seals etc) but it didn't last long, especially with a heavier clutch that went in.
Brakes, same deal. Check for leaks around the master cylinder, bleed / flush the fluid from all 4 wheels, if still no good, grab a new master cylinder. I've found FTO brake masters to be fairly poor compared to other cars. For a much better feel, you can buy a master cylinder with a bigger 1 inch bore (as opposed to 7/8" on GR's & 15/16" on GPXs.)

hrmm i might check it out tm or something.
well i cant drive the car anyway because its not registered due to the compliance plate disappearance.
but took it for a spin last night and i gotta admit the manual runs way better than the tiptronic. well it had good throttle responce and torque.
