My car can't move
Hey guys, Im having a couple of problems with my car.
1. Whren I brake or accelerate there is this "thuck" sound. My mech said it was the cracked shock tower.Anyone knows where to get it and how much it cost?
2. There is no pressure on my clutch so my car cant move. Clutch pump is ok n its not leaking. But there seems to be a hose that connects to the clutch pump that is the problem. Anyone knoes what is called and how to get the parts for it?
Thanks guys for your help. Need to know it ASAp as I have no transport to get to work.
Cheers

Re: My car can't move
Would that be the Hydraulic line that feeds the fluid to the clutch ???nikhan wrote:Hey guys, Im having a couple of problems with my car.

Dunno about the thuck sound... never heard of a cracked shock tower, its probably an engine mount.
The clutch problem is more than likely shot seals in either the master or slave cylinder. If its not leaking then its probably the master cylinder - when the seals go, when you depress the clutch, the fluid just bypasses the plunger & goes straight back into the resevoir, giving you little or no clutch movement.

You dont mean shot strut tops do you. The bearings in the top of the strut tops go occasionlly (and that will definitely make a clunk noise - especailly when going over bumps). You can get new ones of those from Mitsubishi (they are the same as a CC or CE lancer from memory. If can grab a part number if you end up needing one.
Failing that, if it actually is the tower, that is part of the car shell (its the bit the front shocks bolt into) and you cant buy that bit. it would have to be welded. Havent ever heard of one of those cracking. I can only imagine an accident of some kind would cause that sort of damage. Has your car ever copped a hit in the front?

It has not been in an accident before because I got my mech to check. Does the accident have to be serious for it to happen? Its a black circular thing above the suspension and u can see it when u pop open the bonnet. Its right at the top with a bolt in the centre. There is a crack on the black part (done noe what its called). If the shot strut tops are the ones that make tat noise, it probably must be it. Can I get it from any mitsubishi dealer or is there a specific one i must go to. I'm in Melbourne btw.

Yeah, theyre the strut tops. Same as a for lancer. Any mitsubishi dealership should either have them in stock or be able to get a set for you on a couple of days

I think this is the correct part number: MR131420 (but make sure you check it). Should cost around $70 per side. If you are charged much more than that you are being ripped.

Nvm. I called another dealer and found out that the strut tops now belong the the RalliArt section.
It costs about 81.60, which is almost the same price u said. Anyway, if anyone needs the strut tops the new part number is MB910847.
N for those Melbourne members, avaid Chadstone Mitsubishi because they rip you off man. N the service is very bad...seemed liked u owed the guy money man.

Told you to be careful they didnt rip you
. The moment they hear the word FTO, they triple the price. If they think its lancer, its not so bad. But they seem to be able to charge their own prices as the part prices vary from outlet to outlet. I think they geet to put their own margin on top of everything.

Yeah...but the dealer that i got a good price said that the price should be all the same because Mitsubishi gave the recommended price. Something dodgy is going on. Lolz. Anyway, the nice dealer ask whether I was a FTO club member n I said yes...so he gave me a better service. Apparantly lotsa FTO owners go there especially for those strut tops are always wearing out. Mine's coming in from Sydney...its the last one left.
