Wonder have anyone has the experience where they gears won't engage?
I stopped at this traffic light one day, had my gear in neutral, as the light turns I try to put the gear in 1st, but won't go in, reclutch few times and try 2nd gear, 3rd still no luck (feel like I was sitting there for hours) was keep trying until I was able to get into the 2nd gear and rev the car to start to move..
the people behind me was not happy and I feel embarrassed
Kni8ht if you look just next to the air box you will see a filter simular to an oil filter and infront of that is a dip stick like your engine oil one pull it out check it like you would check engine oil.... hope that helps...
Hey Kni8ht.. just went and had a look at mine again and my dip stick is painted white.. if you stand at the front of you car looking into the engine bay there are two fans at your radiator the left one has the engine behind it and the right fan has the trans dip stick behind it.. I have a GPX tip so I dont know if it may be located in a different position on different models..
the problem does sound more serious than a dirty oil problem though... should get it checked out... i never actually looked for this dip stick myself either... maybe on our manuals you can only check from the bottom when you unscrew the plug?
cant find it in this pic either, only the white engine oil stick to the left
Disrespect is easy. Respect is the difficult road to take.
If I remember correct, manual transmission don't have oil dip sticks. Only Autos do, as oil is a major component (I believe the torque converter uses the oil as the transfer fluid )
Oil still plays a role in manuals of cause, but only in reducing wear, however it usually doesn't require topping up that often as the oil doesn't change temperature as quickly.
As usual, I haven't confirmed my knowledge but that what my view of the world appears like. if I have any glaring errors, please correct me.
i did my gearbox oil change (manual) a few months ago.. i read thru the manual before doing it and didnt come across a dip stick for it in the manual.. all it said was unscrew the plug where you fill the oil in, check how clean the oil is(i guess by poking your finger in it), if its dirty then replace it... you can just see that plug on the right side of the engine when your facing it, between the airbox and the right headlight theres a gap, and you can just see it...
