Noise in engine bay

Post by bushido »

On start up a noise is present. Goes away after warmup. I dont think its the alternator as the voltage display does not change when air con is on etc.. Thinking it might be a belt? needing some lubrication or maybe its a little loose?

What kind of noise? Can be tappets otherwise it can possibly be the belts or the alternator pully is on the way out.

Its a squeak. engine has done 53xxx km. Surely belts are good for 100000km?

Try to pinpoint where the noise comes from when you start the car in the morning, it can be the alternator pulley.

Not quite. Belts should be changed at every major service, ie every 10-20k. Change them, it'll go away.
