Hail damage - car f*****d.
Did anyone else's car get raped by the freak hail storm that went through Sydney on sunday afternoon?
I'd been on a cruise down through RNP / kangaroo valley earlier in the day but went home cos I was getting pretty tired after a late night day before.
Got woken up by hail stones hitting my bedroom window, and yeah- car is screwed, in fact 4 of my family's cars plus our house got damaged... f*ken hell.
Anyway, does anyone know how you fix hail damage, or how much it costs? And nah, I don't have full comp cover; if I paid that I could buy a new FTO every 2 years anyway.
Help?

..kin hell! Sounds nasty. Any pics?
Lots of companies around... http://www.dentremoval.com.au/
- have had very good service from Dent Magician over in NZ, but hate to think what the whole body would cost.

as for fixing hail damage...you could always order the parts that you require (i assume a windshield ? and perhaps bonnet damage etc..depending on how heavy the hail was) and put it together yourself...that would beat the ridiculous labour costs on adding/repairing car parts...

3 of my mates got caught a couple of years ago (my car parked in garage hehe). I didnt think it was that bad but probably round 20 dents in every panel but not deep. Cars were valued from $1000-$8000, insurance wrote off the two most expensive cars (mate with 1k car didnt have insurance).
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

none of you saw the news obviously, the hailstones averaged between golfball and baseball in size, covering the blacktown/ rooty hill district + more (west/ north west sydney) any car that got hit by these was pretty much f*cked bodywise.
Have a mate at work that has a sprinter, has a hole in his rear winscreen size of his fist- it punched through the laminate/ tint!

i work for RACQ Insurance lol
sry i just had an urge to tell someone about my new job lol.
anyways if the dents arent so bad, then you can try beating it out yourself from the inside using a folded up towel and a ball point hammer. but i doubt you'll be able to do a perfect job, and depending on the quality of your paint and size of the dents etc... your paint might chip.

damn ... that sucks dude
I think I would cry.
got any pics of the damage?
If you can reach them from the inside, try as Yang said with the cloths & hammer .. or a rubber hammer.. run a google search on paintless dent removal etc etc .. or pay some guy to come out, he might charge $40 a dent or something..
How many are there?
My cars been out without cover once when there was a hailstorm incoming & couldn't get it to an undercover carpark.. i ran out with as many pillows, doonas, sleeping bags, bits of cardboard boxes etc as I could find & covered my car up well proper..needless to say, no hail damage .. didn't have anything to sleep on for a few days, but it was worth it..

mmm, i'll put photos up later... right now I can't stand to look at it. it isn't that the damage is spectacular, like the windows and lights are okay, its just that every other panel has tens, 20s of dents in it.
no offence to everyone who said something like 'woulda / shoulda / coulda covered it up', the car had a cover on it when the storm hit, which ended up in a neighbour's tree. so yeah, don't see how covers woulda worked...
my best bet woulda been castle towers or something, but like i said, i got woken up by the hail so not a chance.
i'm gonna have a shot at knocking / pulling some of th dents out myself, but apart from that, I guess the look might grow on me, and i'll start calling her Hailey
