Hey, I got this chain email. Not sure if it's a hoax or what but thought I'd post it anyway.
Just wanted to let evryone know who is travelling on these routes over xmas.
M5 and the M7 are now equipped with Point to Point speed devices.
Once you enter the M7 for instance you pass the etag and it beeps.
At the same time a camera takes a photo of your car and records the exact time.
For those who have exited the M7 they would be aware that upon exit the etag system beeps again as you leave.
At the same time another camera at that point takes a photo of the car and the time.
Then the computer calculates the time it has taken you to travel between the two points and calculates your speed.
If you have completed the clocked journey too fast you are given a speeding ticket.
At the present time the speed limit is 100K.P.H. and you have a tolerance of 102 and no more.
One fraction over that speed and you are issued with a fine automatically.
Remember, this is going to be a very costly experience for some drivers.
It is also going to mean vehicles will be travelling at 95 in order to ensure that no ticket is issued.
What a shock some drivers are going to have when they have used this roadway for a week and get a weeks tickets BOTH WAYS.
Of course your license will also be recalled for three months and you know the rest.
Take the advice and if you ignore it remember this email when you pay all those fines.
Also, remember that now with the new legislation, fighting a speed camera fine is almost impossible.
You must prove the device is faulty and if you are not a technician working on them, you have no chance of beating the fine.
The Pacific Highway has a set and these are recognized as large steel frames over the lanes with a speed camera and some distance up
the road
is another large metal frame with a speed camera.
These new point to point systems are being put onto any expressway
or highway where vehicles are not able to exit between those points.
Also remember that school zone cameras are not speed tolerant.
Anything over, even 41, is a fine. This means people will be doing
38 to avoid any differences in their speedo readings.

Not so much a hoax, but a little over exaggerated...
Yes - it will happen
No - it wont be for some time
First things first, the signage has to be put up. As per all speed measurements, the driver must be aware. Much like driving into Melbourne from the North, they do it there & every check point is clearly marked. It has to be the same up here.
Secondly, all the camera's must be RTA certified. At this stage they were privately installed & tested by ROAM. I know this because my engineers that work on the RTA account have got the job to go & certify them.
Thirdly, you wont get booked for doing 2kms over. It will be like the standard cameras, anywhere from 5-6kms & over they'll start sending tickets. There's too many grey areas regarding speedo accuracy that would lead to court case on court case if they tried to hit you for half a km over the limit - same as with normal speed cameras.

hehe, if they did the signage for it the same way they do the "signage" for speed camera's up here in QLD you wouldn't know about it until after you've driven past the speed camera car...Bennoz wrote:Not so much a hoax, but a little over exaggerated...

They ALWAYS have the "Speed camera in use" sign hidden behind the 4wd / van even though it is supposed to be put out 100 metres 'before' it or something in plain sight.
I would laugh if this is true ... You could just park your car for a while.. have a nap .. catch up on some reading / watch a dvd or whatever .. & then drive 10 billion km/h to the next checkpoint & still clock in at going 60km/h

the M7 has got the timeing sytem in place as from the time it opened they give you somthing like a 5-8% leeway on your times they do get the cars as well but they will send out a warning letter to you the first time
a lot of the trucks at work have been done by them as the times are adjusted as to the speed signs ie 40-80-100km/h
also you need to look out for the saftey cams to as they now get cars
as for signs for this they get away with it as they put up the signs that say speed cmeras used in this area or NSW
any thing to get more money out of us

They've started doing that up here as well ... there used to only be "speed camera's used in this area" signs on the way up to the Sunshine Coast, but now they're popping up everywhere..aza013 wrote: as for signs for this they get away with it as they put up the signs that say speed cmeras used in this area or NSW![]()

I swear though .. people will start taking off their plates to go speeding around the place .. just like they do in Japan .. & if they're chased by cops they will RUN. What's more dangerous?

CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
