Chain ?

i think i may have covered this before... but sometime... not everytime i drive... i get this chain like noise front the front driver side of the car... possibly from wheels ?... it never happens when i am driving on the road... just when i am starting to drive... i.e. getting out of driveway .... any ideas ?

I'm probably thinking that one of your CV joints are starting to wear out, probably the boot has split and all the grease has got out.

is it a clicking noise, then if it so definitly cv joints.

1) jack car up (put axle stands or blocks undercar)
2) get torch and look at the axle (the round metal bar that goes from engine to the centre of your wheel.
3) check out the rubber boot. Does it have a split in it?
4) there is also another one on the same axle but more closer to the engine. Check that one too

there is no splits in that part... it doesnt look like its from there... i should also mention that this noise doesnt always happen.. but it is not a clicking noise... more like a kind of loud chain turning... something like a bicycle chain but louder ?...i dont know how to explain it well
