Bloody not normal

Hey all!

Some not normal hit my car yesterday! She ended up doing a runner so I chased after her. I caught upto her with bent steering! I managed to get her, she had no insurance, rego and didnt work!

What a combo hey???? Got all her details, made her write a letter saying she was at fault and took a picture of her car. Called her house, her mother said she does not see her daughter much anymore so bloody pissed off. Im going to fix this outside of insurance as I know people who can do it for me cheap. My steering seems a tad bent. I took everything off today wheel, steering components and rack seem fine. Thing is my front left wheel seems like its pointing right a tad with poistive camber if you get the drift. So imagine looking at the front left wheel its pushed it at 10 oclock. Got a picture so you all to see! What is wrong with my steering???

yeah I'm going to the cops and all! Im going to do that Monday but I want to know what the hell is wrong with my steering? Everthing looked straight when I has the wheel off.

I was thinking if the alignment is now out doesnt it mean the wheel would sort of look like that when slightly turned?

If she hit your wheel, the wheel alignment definitly wopuld be out. But really hard to gauge exactly what your talkin about by that pic. If you cant see anything get a wheel alignment done and should fit unless she has bent your chassis whch i highly doubt. Explain what its like to drive

I had the steering wheel sort of 5 cm off centre. Bascially like a toe problem.

Ok .. I'm cutting some to the comments on this thread which are in breach of this rule..

Ah you said positive chamber in your first post. If the bottom sticking out more than the top that is negative chamber. Is the front camber adjustable from factory (i know the back are) if so then she could of definitly wacked that out to

arr that sucks mate... good job chasin her down & getting her to admit fault in writing..

probably best to do it outside of insurance ... sucks though, but its not worth the excess - try and source a new front guard - would surely be cheaper & better than the labour in belting that one out ..as for the front bumper ... can't really tell the damage fromt he pic .. looks like it is able to be saved..

mate,

jack your car up and inspect it good!
see if anything has been bent, twisted or out of place
take the wheel off and look if the wheel has been bent or anything (doubt it though)
then look at your rotors, axel, diff's,suspensions anything and everything that could of been hit and see if anything is where it shouldnt be
you should find the problem there
it happened to me when i used to have a 1990 gt4 celica, my wheel stuck out a bit because my axel was bent

checked everything, everything looks find. I'll just take it to some joint to have it checked out.

Could it be the bearing?

Alloys dont bend, they break, thats why theyre sh*t on 4wd's

Alloys dont bend?

mate, give any metal enough force and it will bend , try hitting a hammer on the end of the alloy i promise it will bend before it breaks

anyway, this is to help payaya fix his problem not to nit pick peoples suggestions and correct them
