Guys i have seriously looked into this and it can be done......... But not f*%ken easily. i got mine fully complete, so i though,t then major issues arised. Jerome (umm) is a engineer (or close) and his are still not complete and thats been at least 4 months. WAIT for his kit if you are interested in doing this cause at least you will have some to complain to IF there are any problems.
I GOT SO CLOSE< BUT GOT FRUSTRATED AND GAVE UP, heres a pic of almost done

PS the only other hinge i would consider buying is the DECAH one. very tidy but very pricey

Mine will be done very soon just waiting on some bits that had to be cnc machined.
Yea you were smart to stop before getting to invested into it. It all looks easy... you can even get the doors lifting pretty easy but thats only the start. My first version had the door up but then theres problems with wobbles, gas strut strength and position, angle, fittment, things hitting, custom parts needed and the list goes on. I'm up to about the tenth version and have modified each version heaps and spent way too much money to give up. I'll actually be more happy to see them finished than on my car.
The decah kits are no good...the company who is making my struts is the supplier of the decah struts(says hes made over 50 000 for him). He reckons it took the decah guy about two years to finally release his kit.
The thing is that they have been designed to be mass produced and to fit almost any car. This means they have used the cheapest and least parts possible and because its not designed for the fto they don't fit properly without work and don't use up the space that there is so they don't lift as high as they could.
Anyway i'll hopefully have mine done this weekend and then i'll give the local guys a test run soon after.
