removing a turbo?

Post by mr_f700 »

im thinking of puchasing a new car in the near future

tha thing is on the nsw p-plater i cant drive a turbo car

the car i want is a turbo

i know the turbo can be removed by changing the manifold and such

is there anything else i need to know to do it?

but the thing is is the car has a different ecu

so its tuned to run boost and things, so..

what would need to be done to let the ecu run the engine without problems?

change the ecu?
return it to a stock ecu?
or simply re-tune the ecu?

thanx

don tbother dude...
if u remove the turbo, it will cost u heaps in labour
and if u are purchasing a factory turbo car and removing the turbo, the chance of u driving that uphill is zilch, if it moves at all...the factory ecu would have turbo settings for AFR, knocks, boost and timing and stuff...trmoving the turbo means your car is slower than a bloody stock hyundai...DONT DO IT!
wait until u finish your Ps
not that long anyways....

Agreed... plus a factory turbo car will have factory turbo cams. They no work no good without the hairdryer.

The compression ratio would be too low and the transmission ratio most likely be taller to utilise the turbo mid to high end torque.

So thats 3 out of 3 ;)
