Avarage km's on odometer...

Post by Borya »

I'm just wondering, how many kilometers is sorta the avarage, for an fto to have.... for each year would be cool... I guess it matters when the car has been complianced... :?

Also if, you have higher than the avarege, how is the car holding up?

Thanx

My guess would be that on average a 1995 FTO would have about 90,000 kms on it.

well, statistics provided by import brokers indicate that a majority of cars have an average of 10,000kms done per year (in Japan) so for example a '95 FTO would have an average mileage of 90000kms, so obviously if you are lucky enough to find a decent example with lower mileage then you're doing well (but as usual keep a lookout for tell-tale signs of wear n' tear etc to back up the odometer readings).

My '96 FTO came with 42000kms (which is very very low) so I took a gamble and bought the car through the Jap auctions (via a broker) and since it arrived i can vouch for the very good condition of the car overall... engine is running/idling very smooth, no wear on seats/steering, handles well etc...

Aren't cars in Oz based on 15,000-20,000kms per year? Do we do more driving than those overseas?

well considering that Oz is mainly 80% dessert and bush, I'm not surprised!

oh, and I average 25000kms a year...

i suppose i should also add that it's 25000km per year of nothing but pure, unadulterated driving enjoyment!

well believe it or not - NONE! :P *touchwood*

i don't care care what you say or think of my claims, but my driving record is absolutely clean (full points to date) except for 1 parking fine...

...possibly might be related to the price of being a country boy?? :P

95 GR, at about 80,000km's. Got it at 72,000 last july.

Averages change from country to country, consider japan - so built up, a drive to work might take an hour but only be 10k's or less away....where as here - i live 30 minutes from work - easily 20k's each way.

Most car yards here in oz state between 15,000-25,000 being normal.

hmmmm mine is 63,000km atm, it was 52,000km 2yrs ago when it landed in Oz. It was a wkend car until now, so i guess thats why my km are much lower then most ppl.

Ohhh & its only 15km from home 2 work, so that helps 2!

my 96 gpx manual is on 70,000km

got it a year ago on 56,000km

14,000km for a year is well below average i guess since it's mainly a weekend car.

im trying to keep it low for better resale value.
