a supplier for kevlar pads ive been talking to says that the verada (not magna) uses the same pads too, as he only supplies these pads for oz built cars. is this true?

ive got abs and ive locked it up before... was some adventurous driving and i think they were a bit hot... stopped though!

How do you know if you have ABS brakes or not? Help??

have someone stand on the side of the road while you drive past them and slam on the brakes. instead of locking up, brakes should quickly come on and off, like 10 times per second or so.

you wont find anything on the brakes themselves, there's an ABS module normally under your bonnet that regulates hydraulic pressure to your brakes by sensing wheel speed with 'wheel speed sensors'. just have a look in your fuse and relay boxes for ABS and that will tell you whether you have it or not. i cant remember what the ABS module looks like.

I had a look at the fuse box inside the motor area and there was definitely NO fuse in the box for ABS, so I guess that sadly it does not have ABS, my car is a 1995 so it is too old maybe. I could not see that part in the photo either. Thanks for your help.

Well, the first person to have my car then did not pay for it. I have only had the car about 4-5 weeks now, I have wanted one for 5 years.

On the ABS front as well some might remember that I was not having much luck with my brake upgrade to DBA rotors and EBC pads (lack of pedal feel etc). After talking to a few mechanics I decided I needed to clean the ABS sensors.

The front sensors are bolted in from the top of the caliper. It is a big magnet that reads a gear on the hub. Becarful not to wack the tip of the sensors against any metal. It is very magnetic. Mine was caked in brake dust a debri. I just wibed it clean with a bit or water with a tiny bit of metho (diluted). Do not use abrasive cleaners. Then bolted it back in. My brakes are much better now. Sometimes they just need a big prod to warm up properly

I haven't done the rear cause the sensors are inside the hub and I'm not to keen on taking the brakes off to get to them. But just doing the front helps a lot.

So anyway, If you are not sure if you have ABS when you have a front wheel off look for a second pipe going to the caliper, if you have two one should be the Brake line (fluid for the caliper) and the other will be electrical for the ABS sensor. Sorry I have no photo.

If I ever do the rears I'll do a DIY on this.

Yes, I do LOVE driving around in my hot Red FTO. My Kids love it, especially my son.

I did check the Fuse box and it did not have one in the ABS place so I am pretty sure it does not have ABS, but thats ok. It is nice to know.

If anyone else has a photo of the brake part that would be great to see.
