6A13

Post by Astro »

RPW are doing the hybrid engine integrating a 6A13 block with a 6A12Mivec head. The 6A13 engine has a longer stroke and therefore the block is higher then the 6A12. Should the height difference also reflect the width of the cylinder head being a V6 engine? I don’t know if am explaining this correctly.

Any one knows the power outputs of this hybrid engine and rev limit?

I wrote an email to RPW I while back asking about this.

They said it would still rev to 8 grand and there would be about 40% improvement in Torque and horse power (that’s if it is tuned correctly)
This is just what they are claiming, probably better of finding someone who has actually done it.

I've been try to contact dave to get more info but I get the Automatic reply etc....
I would love to know if the 6A12 mivec head will fit directly on the 6A13 block without any slight modifications. From my little knowledge the only custom made parts will be the engine mounts using RPW's 6A13 extractors and Greddy piggyback.

Basically in a nutshell RPW is nearly 90% completed on our 6A13/6A12 hybrid motor.

Essentially what we have done is used a 6A13 SOHC short motor, made custom 6A12 high comp / 6A13 bore size pistons, new forged conrods and adapted them into the 6A13 motor.

Fitted the 6A12 cylidner heads, after 2 months finally found a timing belt that fits right up, modified several small items and this will be a ready to dro pinto the car motor.

This particular engine is going into a customers car in the eastern states of australia in a semi touring car with a Haltech system and our header kits.

The 6A13 Turbo block I belive has different engine mounts etc to the 6A13 SOHC engine and 6A13 DOHC non turbo engine but I cannot comment on that not having done that particular conversion.

The beauty of this conversion is it is a direct bolt in on existing running gear and can be used with slightly large injectors (Whcih RPW stocks), and a greddy e-manage.

Beign the 2.5 engine it will have a tonne of torque and best of all - will be able to be used in conjunction with our turbo kits with alterntive piston design.

The only thing we need to check is that the engien block is taller than teh 6A12 engine block by around 10mm and so there may be issues with bonnet clearances but we are not sure of this until we fit it into a car.

So that is the update and what we have researched and found out.

I hope this helps
This is a post that RPW put up on http://www.ftooc.org

Finally got some questions answered. I would want more detail before putting in the money which I will probably do. I would want a list of the small modifications done and which cam belt is used etc. I wouldn’t want to rely on RPW for a simple service as I live in a small island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Also mentioned a 6A13 SOHC ‘short’ motor, Is there another 6A13 Long motor :?:

The cool thing is after swapping, you finish up with an engine developing around 270Bhp @ flywheel without a turbo. Amazing. :D

The bad thing is that I’ll have a 6A12 MIVEC engine lying in the garage just wasting space. :(
