Are the parts listed on your insurance policy ???

If not, take em off before the assessor gets out there, and replace them with the original stock parts...

If the parts are on your policy, then they form part of your agreed value, and have to remain on the car... Otherwise, the insurance company can take value away from the car, or charge you with theft as they own the car when it is written off...

think u are allowed to remove personal items from the car once... i guess u can try going in with tools and try your luck...
"what u on about? that alternator is a personal item, so are the rims" lol

depending on the dmg on the car, i suggest you "buy" the car back off JustCar, and throw in a couple of grand with the cheque justcar is going to give you and buy another FTO, this way u'll have a whole car worth of spare parts and u can probably recover your costs of buying the wreck in selling the parts and alway money saved on not having to buy parts when somethign gives on the new fto.

and yes part of the reason of me suggesting this is so that qld members have another source of parts lol

hey, how bad is the dmg? maybe we r all ust jumping the gun here, and it's repairable lol
:)

We can group buy it for the forums... Then if any of our parts give way, we can have it replaced... :D

you should be fine since u have full comp, they should pay out, dont stress :)

and as far as i know they just deduct the excess from the final cheque they r going to send you.

i think last time i looked excess was around about 800$ (i was insured with just cars, now i'm not insured lol)

rock_it, where are we going to put the damn thing if we buy it lol, although....
Jason, if it is a write off, and you dont want to buy it back off just cars, let me know, i might want to buy it ;)

Sorry to hear it mate. I hope all is repairable.

Your excess will take into affect your driving history, age and no claim bonus as well as other things. I think you'll have to pay this before you would get any cheque back if it is written off or before repair is started if it is repairable. My excess is about $1000 or $1200 I think, I'm with Justcars.

The only problem you may have is if you haven't told them about mods. THey may deem that a modification that you have made may have caused the accident and then they will not cover you because essentially your car isn't covered by them because they weren't covering it with the mods made (if they aren't aware of them). In your case I shouldn't think this would be a problem. Also if any modifications you have made a deemed to be illegal this also might happen. Ie. Wheels are too big. I'm pretty sure we are only allowed 2 inches larger then standard in Queensland. For example.

I hope I'm not bringing any bad news. Good luck
