I Believe this explained why there so cheap nowdstocks wrote:Actually, the reason they depreciate so fast in Japan is because the registration cost over there is tied to the age of the car. The older the car, the dearer to register it - gets to a point where it is cheaper to buy a new car than re-register the one you have.
Glad it doesnt work this way here!
How much did new FTOs cost back then

Holy crap Oliver... You interesting ways of typing never cease to amaze/confuse/give me a headache.
Not trying to be rude or anything, but please please try and stop writing so as to make it as hard as possible for people to read it.
And as far as an fto beats all. Thats just dumb. An fto goes very well for what it is. a N/a 2L 10 year old car. however against a brand new car, it doesnt fare as well... Be aware that what you have is not the best. nor anywhere near it. What I have is the best. rofl..
Please... Remove the shift and caps lock buttons from your keyboard oliver.... please... for the love of god.

Hahaha *agrees with Joejoe's comment*
Well seeing as it's gone anal, now i can write gibberish w00h00!
Ricometa,
Going into a bit more detail, i think the pricing for an FTO is actually quite fair. Probably 12 year old, with usually high km's, nicks and dings, things needing to be replaced (suspension anyone?) that still attracts a sub $15,000 price tag is not cheaply priced imho. But it being a sports car, does that.
Have a look at some real mint FTOs. They still mostly go for over $20,000 and a few months ago, i was considering selling mine to pick up a mint GPvR 98 manual for $21k. Now a car that costed in today's terms about 70,000K 9 years ago that's still selling for $21k...i reckon that's pretty good.
It's a good thing Mitsu designed and built the car fairly well, 10 years later and it still holds it's own against other n/a cars (especially a mildly modded manual).
Olie,
Lol, what's wrong with my rolla owning my FTO? No way am i going to keep up with a modded FI car with 1030 kerb weight.
The rolla tuning scene is much bigger than the FTO scene lol, that crapbox on the street around the corner may just be a monster sleeping
But i like my FTO more, hence why i'm here.

Sam,
I didn't get an AE86
almost bought one with 180rwkw though...that would have been fun. I could possibly borrow one of those Corrolla II things that has beaten a few skylines
that would give you a run hehe
Oliver,
You need to chill man, my subtle humor is hard to understand at first..for one thing I live in QLD lol
