2 things

Post by dstocks »

One of three things is likely causing your noise:

toolkit in tray in boot (less likely)

rear parcel shelf (more likely). Sometimes these are not secured properly and rattle.

suspension (most likely). Old suspension components make noise that can be heard both inside and outside car. How many kms has the car done?

The exhaust on FTO's can vary a lot when aftermarket.
I have had around 4 difference setups on mine and all were totally different.
Do you like the Ferrari like sound of standard?or do you want a Rumble?
Go to a decent exhaust place (Right Price Exhaust in Slacks Creek) and get them to make you one up to suit.
Dual exhausts like mine, are my personal taste. Although doubles the cost of mufflers.
Theres a million different combos. Best bet is to come on a cruise and listen to everyones and if you hear one you like then ask the owner what they've done.

As far as 4 Cyl FTOs... they are very very rare.... or the owners are too ashamed to bring em out.. hahaha..

    Neither actually,

Ive been told they have never been passed for compliance, so they are so rare they dont exist (in Australia anyway).

Thats interesting, because I heard it from someone that worked in the policy area that make up the rules. Maybe they were allowed under the old scheme but not under the new....

Yeah i have GS it was imported in Australia in 2003

he he no im not ashamed to bring it out i've been on the last two cruises in SA i think it performs just as good as a gpx remembering my girlfriend has a gpx ive driven both and still prefer to drive mine i dont know why it just feels better. i think its lighter or mabe its newer, the steering has more turn which makes it easier to park and u turns are easy.

its a manual which makes it fun to drive, it has air bag, abs a lot of extras its a 1997 Gs. i welcome any one to drive it. so they can feel what im saying. yes when driving the my girlfriends one the gpx i can feel that it has more power. but i love my car . its my pride and joy its my baby .

yes honey your my baby to. mwah! ( glamours)

Welcome to the club. i dont know if i over read it but what type of FTO do you have? e.g. year, colour, model, tiptonic or man?

As for makin it stand out i went for some rims to start and i just put on some new tinting which starts off reflective silver at the bottom and fades out to black at the top to match my silver paint. There is different styles you can get to suit your liking :)

It’s a silver 96 model Gpx Tiptonic (wishing I had of got a manual now but)

With your tinting is it legal? Coz I have got dark tint but it’s starting to peal a bit on my windows, so I want to replace it, and I have actually been wanting to get something different not just the standard dark tint, but I’m worried that it’s not legal. Is it?

I think it may depend on your location. Best bet is to call Queensland transport.
As far as Tips go, i hear the FTO Tips are one of the best tips around.
And city driving must be a breeze.

As far as tinting goes - anything under 35 grade is illegal... but! you can always get out of a defect if you say you imported the car and it was like that.. its jap spec 8) ive used it before.. and got away with my 15 grade hahaha ( the lower in number you go the darker just for reference)

        15-10: Limo tint
        10-5: Ambulance tint

        Sammi..

also .. anything under 35.. its a cashy job so theres no warranty on it.. unless u know the people.

As long as they give it a warranty your set...
I dont think tinting is really hard... its either good job or sh*t job...
If they're still in business they cant be too bad.

hey, in reply to your question, no its not legal.. as mentioned above the limits are suggested. Ive had it for about 4weeks or so and had no troubles yet.. as they say just dont attract attention to your car and u should be fine :)

i also know a couple of people with too darker tint never had any troubles and also a guy with the same tint i have now had his WRX done for 1.5 - 2yrs and said he was fine. guess it depends on the cops that pull u over :) if i had to take it off its only a total loss of around $200 anyway.

Hey MissxFTO - i didnt think you could get away with such an excuse. when i went thru compliance and over the pits wouldnt they have rejected the import car for approval? if it comes down to it... its what ill say but haha -- and exactly what does japspec mean here

something to make your ass look PHAT!!!

        Post by DesertStormBlack »

        wttc

get lowered springs for sure.. i personally would always pass on the bodykit except for a DC front bar.. drool... and a vs wing.. more drool.. but i think you would rather save the money for some very nice lightweight rims..

but here come the real suggestions.. when getting new rims if any.. get some spacers as well.. they make your azz look phat!! and sexy as (shakira on steroids..) although they are a little bt illegal... but cops dont mind at all.. ive had them for about 2 years.. no complaints.. that also provides ample room for those extra width tires and rims (with dish) haha.. oh oh.. camber the hell outta the wheels.. looks sweet.. not too good in the long run though.. its like imaginary spending spree..

        my ass.. par excellence...
