Nah, FTO gear selection is via cable, not a direct shifter into the box.
They are a bit stiff initially until the little nylon bushes wear in, but fine after that. Had mine on for 3 years now with out issue.

Exactly what is the dif between short shift and ... non-short shift? fast gear changing?
wats the labor on install?

The pivot point in the stick is modified so that you have to move the selector less to change gear. Its a DIY job, takes about 10 minutes
