WTB: Crank Angle Sensor for a 96' GPX

I tried Northshore Mitsubishi, ordered the part two weeks ago. Rang them this morning and kept handballing me to diferent departments. They said they'd ring me straight back but I'm still waiting for that phone call.

So just looking for other options atm in case this one falls through. If you have a working Crank Angle sensor or know where I can get one let me know. My poor FTO has been off the road since Dec 17 because of this one small part.

Hi Spud,
I replaced mine a few months back thinking that it was causing my car not to start but then found out that it was the ignition failure sensor.

Im quite sure it is still packed away in my garage somewhere...

It is off my 94 GR but I believe they are all the same (you might want to check first)

I'm in Melbourne.

I have no idea if there is a difference with this part on different model FTO's. Can't see why there would be but ya never know. I'll do a little research and find out.

My p/s belt came apart and hit the cable for the crank angle sensor so I'm pretty sure it's that that is broken. Your ignition failure sensor problem got me thinking for a sec but I'm 99% sure it's the crank angle sensor that's my problem. Either way there is only one way to find out eh!

yep.. mine was off the road for weeks waiting for the
sensor. while waiting i did the timingbelt etc. can u just rewire yours?

Well the wires are still intact. It's the sensor end that looks like its been pulled out of its socket but on the inside of the casing mostly...

From what I could find so far apparently Mitsubishi used a crank angle sensor (MD316603) on cars built in 09/94 only and used different one for all other models.

Whether this is true or not I don't know. If anyone else can confirm or deny that would be great.

I can confirm the correct part and price in Japan. Suply your Japanese chassis number and I'll email or PM an answer in about 24 hours and not handball you around like our friends at MMAL.

Chassis number is required (Japanese one) to enable my contacts to look up on the parts CD and then get a price.

My FTO is fixed! Just want to say thankyou to all those who helped me out with my little problem. FTO_PARTS thanks for your help sourcing the part I need, even though I didn't get it from you I appreciate your willingness to help me out with good customer service. Northshore Mitsubishi and Kempy's I am still waiting to hear from believe it or not.

Thanks Bennoz for recognizing what my problem was straight way. You actually bet $50 it was gonna be the crank angle sensor lol. Although I didn't shake on that I feel I owe you at least a beer or something.

Thanks also to umm and FTO-101 for having the same problem happen to them. It helped confirm Bennoz's bet.

And last but not least huge thanks to onnzo for supplying the sensor for me and at such a cheap price. You saved me mate! In total for the sensor and a new p/s belt it cost me $105. The labour was done by a close friend and mechanic for basically nothing. Big thanks to him as that's where most of the cost is, in the labour.

Anyway the actual culprit of all this was the round thing that the belt wraps around, the bottom one with no thread on it. No idea what it's called but that had moved up a touch too high loosening the belt enough to be shreadded and split in half at high revs. Not too high though. 7.5k is nothing the mighty FTO can't handle hehe. So checks your belts every now and then ppl, make sure they are on properly.
