The Love Bug
So I picked up this little VW beetle for the missus ( she FUKING hates it) has litterally been driven twice since I bought it a month ago, so now I'm just gonna start playing with it. Some plans: Going for the purple on black look, black badges, wheels illegal tint, maybe a black pin stripe and whatever other trim/lips I can find. Slam it on some king springs & deck it out with a sound system. Also give the faded roof & bonnet a clear coat.
In the mean time, If anyone wanted to swap me their half decent FTO for the bug, I'd probably do it
Some specs:
Comfy leather interior
Custom purple paint job with a blue pearl.
Aftermarket twin zorst system
Rims
Factory vase built into the dash with factory flower, yess u heard right, factory fuking flower.
Lots of power picksup FKN quick as.
I'll keep the thread updated with mods

Re: The Love Bug
I actually like them ...
I was looking at one when they first came out, as a daily drive ... Something for me and the Mrs to get around in. I was looking at Silver though... Dropping it a little, a dark set of tints, and good rims, these things look hot.
I was trying to get the 2ltr Turbo they were meant to bring out, but I believe it got dropped at the last minute, and only the 2ltr was sold in Aus.
But a very comfy car.. I did hear they were notorious for problems though, but not sure if this was restricted to a certain year model.

Mostly the Cabrio was the troublemaker, and was exclusive to certain years as they changed manufacture country.rock_it wrote:I actually like them ...

We got the 1.8T and 2.0, along with the shudder worthy 1.6 and 1.8 variants.
The T and 2.0 are both good strong motors, engines and gearbox are a good match.
Weak points include power windows, interior plastic fit and warp, dash board lcd and... something else which eludes my mind.
Everyday I think of buying 1.
I wanted the original prototype over the mass produced brother.

This is a strange car club right here. Last car (almost) I would have thought would be discussed in a positive light.

Funny, all of those are fine on mine.Astron_Boy wrote: Weak points include power windows, interior plastic fit and warp, dash board lcd and... something else which eludes my mind.]
Roof lining is sagging everywhere. Was quoted $500 to fix. Might try find some fabric suitable glue and just give it a go myself.
And I think they recalled a heap, because of a faulty wire from the alternator to the battery being a too small a gauge & causing it to melt and blow fuses n sh*t. Luckily I joined the new beetle forum and did a Abit of research, took mine in and got it changed for $50.
