All done. Ben did a good jobdestinationtoby wrote:Shhtuart wrote:Cheers!Bennoz wrote:First one.
Never seen a rear main go on an FTO yet, but would be wise to swap out none-the-less while the box is off. It would probably be the gearbox input shaft seal - which I've replaced in your manual box
Any other seals i should do while the box is out?
The drive shaft cup seal ring things bout $6 from amayama

Nup.
Very best advice I can give you is take that bit to a pro to do, as u got one chance at it.
Second best advice is, if you're gonna do it yourself, buy the best strongest quality hole piece and use a powerful fuckin drill.

Yeah it's the only bit im really concerned about. I'll buy a decent quality one and I've got a corded drill that will do the trick.destinationtoby wrote:Shhtuart wrote:So you still have the hole drill piece for the firewall.

Re: Shhtuart's Manual Conversion Thread
Just use a decent quality hole saw. I use a 38mm Suttons from Bunnings. Done half a dozen of them now, just make sure you use the template.

Re: Shhtuart's Manual Conversion Thread
Also known as a christmas tree drill...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-3Pcs-HSS ... 2c8ae49bc2
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-39mm-Titan ... 1e751539ed
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-Nitrid ... 540cbe5a87
You get a bit moar accuracy as it starts with a small hole and steps it bigger as you go.
Edit: If you go to an industrial supply store you could get a decent brand name one.

Re: Shhtuart's Manual Conversion Thread
Update time.
I gave myself 30 days to complete this project but seeing as the walk to work isn't too bad (20 mins) and that my mates are good for lifts, It's been pushed well beyond that time frame
I've got the suspension arms out and discovered that the passengers side arm was a prefacelift with a bracket welded on for the GPvR drop link set up.
The car must have been in an accident that's fucked the passengers side arm and the previous owner has engineered this piece
SOLUTION?: Ordered a new arm from Amayama
Next was resealing the sump which is all on and dried now.
I got the gearbox out with relative ease, I missed 2 bolts on the gearbox housing so after much confusion it lowered down on the jack easily.
I then set about pulling the interior auto parts out. The gear lever was a piece of piss but the auto selector cables were a bit tricky as the bracket sits behind the auto ECU bracket.
This was my interior wiring, I almost cry whenever I look at it.
I'm waiting on new header gaskets as well as all the exhaust gaskets from Amayama. The extractors will be finally going in
Next I'll be fixing the wiring and feeding the gear selector cables through and drilling the hole through the firewall
