Revs to high..
I know the average amount of revs when going 100km/h is about 3000 rpm and my car was doing that quite comfortably. Now just over the last couple of days I've noticed it's revving a lot higher at 3500 rpm does anyone have any ideas or know what it is? And just before someone says it's the idle screw it's not because it's idling normal at 800rpm whilst stationary.

Might be torque converter on the way out then.
Does it fluctuate or is it constantly that far out now? When was the last tip fluid flush done?

Re: Revs to high..
No such thing as revving too high!
Does it slip and jump revs like its going into neutral or does it keep making power with the revs jumping?
Could be vac leak or something but that would give it sh*tty idle. Have you touched anything lately?

Re: Revs to high..
My money is on the T/C lock up solenoid having carked it. Try a fluid flush and see if that helps at all

Re: Revs to high..
It's revving higher than it ever has before and it's really strange as it's never done that. I had it roadworthied a couple of weeks ago and the mechanics had it for ages I'm starting to think they could've tinkered with it to create problems and make some money out of me.
It keeps making power with revs jumping the only thing thats been touched is the coolant temperature sensor last weekend.
Thanks for the replies I'll look into these things.

Re: Revs to high..
Actually that wouldn't be that far out of the ordinary... our old family mechanic used to do that to us. Mum went through two sets of rear brakes in two years with the handbrake not even working because of them.c0n13oX wrote:He wouldnt do that. Yeah mechanics are the dodgiest people around, never had an issue before I took it to him and he took over 3 weeks to do the roadworthy it was a joke!

Re: Revs to high..
Coolant temp sensor is above the solid old harness, imput and output sensors. So to remove the sensor is coolant all over the place which plays funnies with the sensors sometimes
