Re: '95 FTO GPX (For parts or repair)
And you think you will be able to do a engine swap?
If you don't know what you're doing, I wouldn't be attempting either.
Best option would probably be to part it out.

Re: '95 FTO GPX (For parts or repair)
There's a thread on what to do.
P.S. If you're going to part it out. I need a fuel pressure regulator.

Should we tell him? Wait to see if he figures it out? Or wait until shadowarrior asks again?

Re: '95 FTO GPX (For parts or repair)
So have you though about what you will be doing with it? Will you attempt a engine swap/manual conversion?

Started pulling the engine apart earlier.Vectose wrote:So have you though about what you will be doing with it? Will you attempt a engine swap/manual conversion?
Looking for something that might be an obvious reason for the noise, if im that lucky then maybe go get it fixed/replaced what ever, then throw on all the after market parts from my car (because it was in a crash and an auto and rough paint etc) then part off the silver one.
But if the engine is un fixable for less then $300, ill be parting it out
Should know by tomoro Arvo

Re: '95 FTO GPX (For parts or repair)
It is a manual, isn't it? I would say engine swap from the silver if the gearbox and the rest of the car is in good nick.
Things to consider while deciding:
1. Does it have a LSD?
2. Roof rust...how bad?
3. Gear box and clutch condition
4. Suspensions and bushes condition
The cons I am seeing so far:
- Engine ($1000 budget max on a low kms engine)
- Front bar ($150 for facelift from dwayne, or $500ish if he wants Dwayne's custom bar)
+ labour and prepping cost to fit said items.
This however depends on how he organizes to do the engine swap though. Taking it to the mechanics is going to cost him a fortune. I would always prefer a manual over an auto

You wouldn't be able to fix the engine for $300.
Bottom end needs to be pulled apart.

Too much hassle imo, when he already has a good working engine available to him free of cost.Vectose wrote:You wouldn't be able to fix the engine for $300.

Re: '95 FTO GPX (For parts or repair)
It's not an LSD
Roof is in mint condition as though its been garaged forever.
Brand new heavy duty clutch
It's on pedders springs I think (blue are pedders?) and kyb shocks. But all that will be sold because all my suspension is newish and better so will do a complete swap.
Ill be putting my front bar on it. Don't like the VS
