Salt Lake Racing

Post by shadowarrior »

Has anybody thought of participating in the Salt Lake Racing tracks around SA? (Lake Gairdner)
Would be fun to see the top speed of stock and modified FTOs. Not about attempting to break records...just check what our cars can do :)

Phil you should go!! :thumleft:

Good idea, but...

It's about 6 hours from me, google maps, that's about 8.5 hours from Adelaide. About 175km of outback dirt road for the final bit of driving. You couldn't drive the FTO there, you would have to have a 4WD and car trailer. You have to camp there for a week or two, event goes for 10 days. You have to catch a 4WD bus from camp to the pits daily. You have to always have your racecar over a tarp so you can't spoil the salt. It's in February, so you would just be cooked to a crisp. etc etc etc

and...

IT'S SALT......RUST RUST RUST RUST AND MOAR RUST.

Definitely not for me.

Was gonna say, doesn't salt all rust up everything?

I wish we had abandoned airstrips here like they do where they film TopGear.

but it's only a few kilometres.

I think we need an autobahn instead.

Anyway, s'ok, I have a new dstocks special that will get all of my TLC. I kinda stopped caring about my old one towards the end of my ownership if I'm honest.
