Or maybe they just dont manufacture them to withstand an engine swap thats pushing out well beyond the limits of the original engine?

Correct me if wrong, but in this case it'd be more to do with the rigidity of the body.
Yes Bennozs body has to withstand more due to extra hp, but realistically that H-brace should have withheld regardless of the increase in power....

Correct, suspension components are designed more around the vehicle's weight, than it's power.

I had suspicions that it was cheap sh*t, they've just been confirmed. The fracture appears such that there was corrosion in it, for a long time. Someone took too long to get from the welding bays to the powder coat line...

Given that then, the entire piece would be RS.

Going for a custom fabricated piece now, or without?

I know a fabricator if interested. Highly skilled, well respected and show quality finish if requested.

Bennoz did you hit it from underneath, or did it just snap from body flex?
It's disappointing to see :(

Neither, it snapped like that when I cracked (undid) the nut holding that part on, as it has to come off for me to get my gearbox out.

Must of been sick of getting removed every year and decided to sacrifice itself.

With the gearbox being partially at fault things have taken a comedic twist.
Maybe the rest of us here who have the luxury of gearboxes lasting longer than a few months wouldn't see such damage?

Given the poor metal that lay behind that powder coat, It would have snapped eventually regardless purely from fatigue.
Would have been interesting to hear that go when on the track.

*twinge*... "The f**k was that"

I've heard my front sway bar mounts break when tackling the twisties, older car, but sudden clunk was anything but pleasant. :?
