Hey everyone! My name is phi. And I like turtles.

Post by phi-tec »

  • Hey guys. As the title says. My name is phi, I'm from Brisbane, currently in Melbourne visiting my mum, and she's now decided to give me her FTO! I believe it's a 94/95 model not sure about the gr or gpx etc but it has a 2.0l v6 mivec with tiptronic (wished it was manual. But I can't complain :p) I also have one issue , the speedo/odometer doesn't work (seems like a common problem) so hopefully someone can give me some advice (vss has been replaced already). So yeah, the car should be sent up in the next couple days as I come back so hopefully I receive it by next week and I shall then upload pics. I look forward to learning more about the fto. Cyas!!

Easiest way to tell if the car has no badges on the boot or side of the car is the engine cover.
Will say MIVEC on it.
alternatively your rev counter will not have red line until 8K (havent driven an fto for ages to remember exactly)

Easiest difference between Gpvr and gpx, do you have climate control or air con? And what colour are your seats?

Well. What's better gpvr or gpx? There's no badge on boot, side says mivec, seats are a little sporty (black with some *~delightful!~* pattern in the middle) as for climate /ac I know it sounds stupid but I don't really know the diff. I'm assuming climate? Cause it has the temperature chang (in units of .5) lol the heat doesn't work though oO (ac seems to b working). And as for revs the red lines at 8k but it has aftermarket cluster?? And buzz yeah I usually go there at night if I'm not working 7-11 is the spot haha. Might be a couple/few weeks. Mums partner might still need the FTO while he get his subie fixed. I hate waiting but i can't complain :p getting the car for free and they paying for transporting it up here.

Oh yeah and the gauges which used to be battery and something else (middle of dash) are now fuel/air ratio and oil pressure. Which to me is pointless :/ besides the look factor

is search working yet?

minor changes, a few things were removed, added, etc.

Majority have a gpx, a few on here have a gpvr, REALLY no great difference in the grand scheme of things.

post up some piccies when you get a chance.
Definitely a gpx as mentioned above.

suspensions old now, replaced, strut braces easily purchased now.
lsd optional if I remember correctly?

Going from dwaynes car, no fold in mirrors, manual dial interior cooling (no climate) and was something else.

Back in the day, yes the vr was the better one to go for, but today, it's little to no difference, atleast in my opinion.
Even our car has the vr wing that was an option from factory at the time.

I guess it depends on personal taste.

I love the rawness of my GPvR, and things like sound insulation and climate control are gimmicks. My air-con still blows cold and my stereo's up so loud i forgot what road noise is.

The seats are nicer and I'd rather have my add ons as stock.
