Eh, I'm contemplating a system change at some point . . . but not from another car =P

http://www.racebrakes.com.au/

I'm thinking of giving them call at some stage and get prices for an AP Racing setup for the front, and moving the caliper and DBA slotted rotor to the rear.

However, that's a little further down the track =)

BTW, that shop is based in Melbourne

race brakes sydney

quoted me $2500 for 330mm disc and ap calipers and the car for a week

you would also have to up grade your master cylinder

are you gr or gpx

i upgraded my gr brake to gpx and now i can stop on a dime

I've got a version R . . . so basically the same brakes as a GPX =)

Hey, dannyboyau, let me know how much they quote now for it =)

2.5k for 330mm rotors . . . slotted and drilled????

ap calipers four or six pots?

330mm . . . works out to be around 13in . . . a bit smaller than GS/GR and a lot smaller than GPX/GPvR

Wierd =) Well, I was thinking of forking out around 3-4k for brakes anyways. But I'll wait until I get some other things first =)

gpx disks are actually 276 mm and 2 piston calipers so 330 is a good increase i was thinking about VR4 brakes but they are only 280 mm so i am thinking maybe GTO or GTR brakes or custom brakes

Eh, I think I was pulling inch measures from mivec.co.uk and translating them . . . *shrugs* I'll check the tech manual's now . . . but yeah, seems a bit strange that the UK site states the wrong figure after this long . . .

Eh, after looking about, I can't seem to find it =) but I don't have the technical manual on hand, so it's probably in there =)

Eh, I just find it strange as 276 mm is 10 inches . . .

 276 is actually closer to 11" (10.86 exactly).
HSV Premium brakes from memory are 330mm and these things stop these tanks on a dime, I think they would be far more than adequite (can't spell that one) on a 1100kg or so little car.

Dannyboyau,
The Evo 5,6,7 GSR & RS2 from 1996 onwards look like a decent stopper.
Dia. 320, 32 thick, 4 spot Brembos but you'll need probably 17" wheels.
If you can make these fit and balanced to your rears they would be really tough. 8)

just been on the phone to to gav sports and they can do a kit for the fto with 330mm or 343 mm 2 piece rotors and alcon 4 piston or 6 piston calipers, brakets and stailess braided hoses from between 4 to 5 thousand they just got in the alcon calipers so they still not exactly sure about the pricing,

not cheap but you will pay for the best.

anyone else priced or done a serious brake upgrade, if so what parts where used and how much

kaveman mine is GPX nakaya tune model had to have the brakes skimmed a couple of times

the gpx brakes stop it ok under normal driving but work them hard and you notice the brake fade

2.5k sounds like a good price are they going to do a bolt on kit
