Or something else? This first picture is the stock manual dial/guage face, and the second the stock tiptronic dial/guage face.

Going on the pics u provided there, I'd say I definitely have the stock manual tacho.

Hmm interesting.
I wonder if you have a manual dash unit on your tiptronic (not even sure if this is even possible) or is it just the face/dials were from a manual?
Did you say you could see the lights for the tiptronic gears underneath the manual tacho dial?

Nah mate I can't see any lights at all. If the dials had been changed, would the gear indicator lights shine thru?

Yeah, come to think about it, the stock dial face is made from a thickish plastic template. The weak LEDs probably won't shine through.
You could try taking the dash out and have a peek underneath the dial faces for any gear indicator lights.
