Yeah hopefully it's just a clueless dealer and the car is in good condition.
I was actually going to go for this: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pendle-h ... /352369540
Got it down to 3.2k, but it looked like there hadn't been any water in the engine for weeks. This one looks much better, apart from the scratches and the keying on the back.

If it's a clueless dealer then milk him for all he's worth. Yea some people mistreat cars, but with more off the road makes ours that are still working more valuable I guess ;)

And a bit of damage to the exterior would be expected on any vehicle of that age, if not then the previous owner spent lots of time and money restoring and/or maintaining.

The only usage which the car has had is:
28-Apr-2000 to 9-Dec-2011 (Private)
Apart from that its been held by dealer, he said he got it from a trade-in.
Hopefully in 10 years it wasn't thrashed, everything is practically in stock. Even the cover on the lights are worn out by water, so nothing has been changed, except the audio system.
Some crappy wiring, but doesn't effect the car in anyway, i'll add a new sound system anyway.

Kiz :D i still envy your FTO

but yeah ezra if you want to double check what it is go look at the chassis number
Your number (eg. DE3A 0000000000 HNGH) is split like this:
Exhaust emissions: E = complies with regulations
Chassis series classification: D = FTO
Model classification: E2 = 1800 cc 4G93 4 cyl E3 = 2000cc 6A12 V6
Service classification: A = Passenger car Vehicle shape
The unique serial number can only be decoded with the help of one of Mitsubishi's FTO CD-ROM's
Body shape spec: H= 2 door coupe
The serial number can be decoded from a Mitsubishi dealer - it relates to YOUR car spec. and options etc.
Gear box type: R= 4 speed Tip-Auto, Y= 5 speed Tip-Auto, N = 5 speed Manual
Equipment usage info: U = GS, H = GR, G = GPX, F = GP
Engine spec level: E = 4G93 1.8 16v with electronic fuel injection, M = 6A12 DOHC V6 with Electronic fuel injection, H = 6A12 MIVEC Engine DOHC V6 with Electronic fuel injection and MIVEC
