I agree that these topics are well overdone, but I'm just gonna say that I have to agree with zuihoujueding's above point...

Even if its not much the Monaro is at least .5 a second quicker to 60km/h. It's all over in three seconds for a LS V8.

The FTO and whatever LS is not even in the same league, I don't understand why people always reckon their cars a V8/Turbo beaters.

couldnt agree more.
but i did beat the monaro fair and square on that day from 0-60km/h....and thats a real life experience, not comparing specs from papers which makes absolutely no sense.

Well it's not exactly hard to beat an entry level/mid level turbo in stock/light tune form and anything but the latest aussie v8's. Just take your pick of n/a sports and do some mods: big cc, high revver.. tune it for the strength of whatever you have. E.g. for the fto, increase power in the higher revs, make it rev quick and decrease weight.

sure but you can mod almost anything to beat anything else these days...question is, where do you draw the line?

Well for me it's always been - if i do some/most of the standard bolt ons, and they're still quicker...then that car is definitely out of your car's league. Don't forget some cars are already highly tuned and don't respond well to bolt ons.

I know this one! I know this one! :D

Its when you spend more than the value of the car, on the car, and the resale value is still half the original value of the car :D Well at least thats what I've got

hehe, very good point ben..

although, could you live with yourself dropping $50k on a brand new car that looks half as good as yours?

I'd rather buy an FTO for $10k & spend another $40k on it than to be driving a brand new holden or ford
