But you need this straight up... FTOs have a very high compression (around 11:1)... mine is down around 8.4:1....

I'd say knock it down to 9.5 or so... it will be worth it...

call up JnR or perhaps a performance workshop such as APC Performance Center (Mitsi speecialist) and have a chat about it first....
Dude i understand all this i was a mechanic for a while, so you dont know what size? Casue rpw are saying 1.50 or over needs new cams, im dont want to do a full engine rebuild

If you only want to run 5 psi or so...then imho it's not necessary for a decomp gasket. Just make sure you get a good piggyback and find a good tuner for it and tune it with at least 95 octane with a small window for leniency/safety.

But you KNOW what's gonna happen. 5 psi will feel old after a couple of months and then suddenly you turn the psi up. Heck, with 5 psi, you probably won't even need to run the intercooler...though i suppose you want that showing for the "respect" factor hehe.

i dunno man... i've got decompressed pistons... so i dont run one... as i said... call up APC... ignore RPW for now... but even if it drops it one point... itd be enough for 5-7 psi safely...

I8AFRE wrote:RPW webite says that when replacing the head gasket it is imperative to replace the head bolts at $275 for the kit. Is this necessary???
I got my headbolt kit for $70 at Autobarn

FYI - standard compression is 10:1

Head bolts waste of time if you're only running 5 psi... similar sentiments to decompression gaskets. As soon as you pull the heads, the $'s start to add up. $500 gasket kit for starters...

If you stay to your mild boost plan, you'll be fine. I think Sam just got unlunky. There's plenty of other blokes running turbos on stock compression with no issues.

bah....

i know you're going to want to wind the boost up... you wont be able to stand 5psi for too long...

if you're doing the work yourself, id say do it regardles...

oh and as jono said... water/methanol injection may be another solution with less cost...

Maybe........ but if i feel the need too, i will just take another look at those pics you just posted hahaha.

All, please remember that i dont want a 10sec car, if i wanted a monster i would just buy jeffs car and spend the dollars to make it look like mine :D

Hey mate, so do you need to find these parts?

Injectors 210cc
RR Fuel pressure regulator
BOV
External wastegate (maybe not sure yet)
Gauges

and what Gauges you after? and what brand? 2nd hand?
and BOV? what one you wan't? 2nd hand?
(youtube the BOV you want. so you can hear what it sounds like)

by I8A4RE
Yes i do.

210cc injectors can get from RPW for $46 a piece so total = 276
RRFPR = i want new
BOV = I want new i think its the trust greddy one but cant remember have to look on my other computer
Gauges: Not really worried about brand but i can greddy ones for $80. I want white faces and either light up blue or green. Ill buy second hand if they are cheap enough.

Cheers
Simon
