AUDIO HELP PLEASE!!!

Post by jester »

hI YALL,

I was just wondring - i just accquried a nice little head unit for my FTO.
a clarion 50x4 cd/mp3 player, i had it installed yesterday.
However i kept the speakers that where already in the car from the previous owner - a pair of 6x9 kicker speakers... ( not sure 2 way, 3way...)

and really im not happy with the sound. it lacks depth...

So me thinking it was due to these Kicker speakers i conneced my old clarion head unit to these new speakers (a 45x 4 W) same model just older.
This sounded so much better!!!!!

Is my new head unit crap?? Im so confusd!!

Any thoughts.... cause i have none...

Thanx in advance..

Is it possible that with the new unit the rear speakers are not connected properly ie + to + and - to -, with the same for both speakers. If you reverse the connectors on one speaker of a pair, almost all of the bass is lost - because they work against each other, rather than together. One way to test it is to fade fully to the back then adjust the balance from side to side. If the bass sounds better with only one speaker than both together, then that could be it.

The other thing I could think of is - have you set both units up the same way eg bass +2, treble +1, loudness on etc?
