Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
Would I be right saying non mivec ecu's don't work with mivec engines and you need a mivec ecu for it to run or can you make a non mivec ecu work with mivec engine
Thanks in advance

Which side is your oil filler cap on?

Oil caps on the Left like a mivec haha I know it's a mivec engine but the ecu part numbers match a non mivec ecu and as far as I've searched they won't work together but mine drove and hit mivec perfectly and even better than my mates gpx before mine got crashed so I don't understand

Maybe don't post in 3 different threads with the same question?
If it is a GR ECU you will not have MIVEC activating and it won't run at it's best.
It will run though but you are essentially using the MIVEC engine without MIVEC.

It hit it perfectly at 5500rpm and went harder than my mates gpx we drove them side by side heaps of times and he has a gr aswell so we know the difference between mivec and non mivec that's why I'm confused to how it was running, working and hitting mivec properly with a non mivec ecu and loom.

Where did you find the info on the ecu part numbers? I'd likely say that's what is incorrect

Maybe, because the guy I sold it to said he looked it up and it's a non mivec ecu so I was just confused myself as to how it was working
here's the ecu and car

That does seem like a non-MIVEC ECU judging by the part number.
Perhaps it was reflashed?
But from my understanding it is impossible to reflash AFM based Mitsubishi ECUs to run MAP

It's a GX ecu. Plastic case means it can be flashed.
He isn't running MAP, still running MAF. Could've been reflashed to set one of the outputs for MIVEC.
Are your MIVEC solenoids plugged into the loom?

Re: Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
Yeah i done an engine swap from my mates uk gpx engine to the jap engine in the gx and I realised the mivec solenoid s weren't plugged in when it was in the gx I plugged them into the gpx loom and when i drove it it went way harder than it did in the gx, it also went way harded than the uk gpx engine. Anyone know how it would of gone harder and felt like mivec kicked in better than the gpx engine with the mivec solenoids not plugged in

First of all: please get some grammar in ya.
Second of all: there's no such thing as a "uk gpx engine", they're all from Japan and they're all the same (maybe sans some minor differences for facelift models).
Thirdly: I thought I knew what you were saying but I read the last line again and now I don't know. How many cars and how many engines are we talking here?

Re: Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
Just the jap engine out of the gx and the one out of the gpx, my question was why did the one out of the gx go harder than the one that was in the gpx when the mivec solenoids weren't plugged into the gx and they were in the gpx and why did it feel like mivec was kicking in if the solenoids weren't plugged in.
The 2 plugs connected to 2 wires that run straight into the engine are the solenoids right because that's what wasn't plugged in

Re: Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
The circles are where the plugs are and the line is the cable with the plugs that plugged into them and then just connected into each other by a wire and cut off where the lines join
Will get a photo of the cable tomorrow

Re: Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
Placebo probably. Non-MIVEC ecu let alone no solenoids plugged in = no MIVEC changeover.

Re: Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
Yeah that's what I figured but driving the car it kicked in perfectly at the same time as the gpx and went harder, I've got 4 people who have driven it who say it definitely kicked in and hard when they drove it.
We know the difference between non mivec and mivec crossover aswell my mate with the gpx also has a gr and we've driven that aswell so that's what I'm trying to wrap my brain aroung

Re: Non mivec ecu in mivec ?
There's the intake manifold runners that switch as well which sounds a bit like MIVEC kicking in.
Does it rev out to 8,000rpm making power all the way there?

Yeah made power all the way to 8000rpm and you could feel and hear mivec kick in, intake runners would be more like a twin cam kicking in not like mivec wouldn't it ?
