But then the person that buys it has to part it out, so they have to make some money also. Nobody buys a car to part out so they can break even.

If you took it to a wrecker I reckon they'd offer you maybe between 500 and 750. Scrap value would be lucky to be $200 if you got it towed away from your driveway. Private buyer would be about a grand at absolute most.

Parting it out takes a while to get money back on it.. a lot of parts sit on the shelf for a while waiting for buyers, which is why if you're going to part something out it gets bought cheaper.

^ and ^^

I'd offer you close to $1000 for it.
Realistically less, but given the amount of rego I'd take that in to account.

Recently Dwayne bought a minter for just over that, so.

If it was cosmetically fine apart from bar and tail, it'd be worth more.

My offer stands.

2k..?

Not with a roof like that, and that damage done to driver side and rear.

Have a look at the FTO I bought. New tyres, Recaros, ARC box and intake, Cusco Coilovers and front + rear strut brace + more..

I didn't pay 2k for that, and a wrecker had offered less. All it needs is a paint. So I don't think you will grab that much..
I just had to add it ......

Yep, you wouldnt get much more than 1K for it. I have bought 4 or 5 now for 1.5K or less that are in much better condition (perfectly straight). The only things on the plus side are the kms (which may be genuine, but its a coin flip as to whether the speedo has been wound back some time in the past) and the rego (although the side rail may well get knocked back as structural chassis damage in future). I can say with complete confidence that there is absolutely no way that a wrecker will offer you more than 1K for it (and honestly, based on what they normally pay, that would be seriously pushing it).

Not trying to be difficult, just trying to paint a realistic impression.

Only reason it interests me so much is because of the gearbox.
Despite being a swap job, it's still a 5spd tip.
Having said that, I'd only be 100% offering after driving it to ensure it's all in good order.

EDIT: Meanwhile, (not meaning to be a prick)
But what were the kms on the manual cluster that was removed from the car?
The kms on those gauges are from Bushidos.

Yeah it did, it has a 5spd tip gearbox. The kms on the old one were roughly 170,000.

Hunt around, see if you can get a better offer.
I'm willing to buy the whole thing from you in 1 piece, provided the car drives fine.

Let me know when/ if you want to sell for the price I made mention.
